They mentioned that according to statistical data from the past five years, accidents caused by improper confined space operations have resulted in hundreds of casualties nationwide, with the majority of accidents being caused by toxic gas leaks, hypoxia, or fires. Director Cai Boxian emphasized the importance of safety operating procedures for high-altitude operations. He cited a recent high-altitude fall accident: at a construction site, a worker accidentally fell from a 10 meter high scaffold while repairing the exterior wall without wearing a safety belt, and unfortunately died. According to relevant data, not wearing a seat belt is one of the main causes of casualties in high-altitude work accidents. In the past three years, there have been dozens of similar high-altitude falling accidents in this city alone, causing multiple casualties. These numbers are shocking and once again remind us of the importance of safety in high-altitude operations.
In terms of working in confined spaces, Station Master Lin Li and staff member Xu Damei provided a detailed explanation of past cases of poisoning accidents in confined spaces. In this case, a worker entered a confined space for work without sufficient ventilation and gas detection, but fell into a coma due to inhaling toxic gases and unfortunately died. According to relevant statistical data, accidents caused by improper operation in confined spaces have resulted in thousands of casualties nationwide in the past decade. These accidents are often caused by the neglect or inadequate safety management of confined space operations by enterprises.
In addition to citing these past real cases and digital data, the leaders of the Municipal Emergency Bureau also provided on-site safety education and training to employees of Yonglian Flavor Co., Ltd. They emphasized the importance of safety operating procedures, personal protective measures, and emergency rescue equipment in high-altitude and confined space operations.
